Ten Years Old… New Skin, New Bike
Big Devon has moved into double digits. Now, I remember what it’s like to be a ten year old boy – one minute you want to be cool and attractive to women, the next minute you just want to be tickled. Come to think of it nothing much has changed. Ten is – as far as I can tell, and at the time of writing – the start of over thirty years’ continuous uncertainty, hideous errors and major embarrassments. Good luck Devon, we’ll be with you all the way to watch…
Here he is, at ten and a fortnight, wearing his figure-hugging new ‘Skin’ - which makes him look like like a rugby league player in waiting – atop his new bike, which conveniently is an exact match for his Skin colour:
Nikon D3S, Nikon 50mm f 1.8 prime lens, 1/1000 at f 5.0, ISO 200, hand held no flash. The perfect combination of man and machine. Devon can now reach his Grandad Ralph and Grandma Anne’s (where this pic was taken) in around 4.5 minutes. He rarely leaves 5th gear, so he’s slow to start but, like a rugby league half back, hard to stop once he’s in motion. The bike has a bell on it so that he can alert nearby ten year old girls as to his dashing presence.
