Old Shep’s Funeral – Part One
On the right, Grandma Jean Shepherd of Royston, near Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on the day we said farewell to her much missed and loved husband, Ken Shepherd. On the left, neighbour and old family friend John, of the same parish.

I shot in black and white that afternoon, somehow it seemed appropriate. The venue, the Midland WMC (Working Men’s Club) in Royston, was ideal, with home made sandwiches and titbits supplied old-school style by local outside caterers. We stayed for five hours, and most people went home with very wobbly legs. A great sendoff for Old Shep, God rest his soul.
